ReEvolution

Natural selection is about the survival of the fittest, but it is not perfect. How can we fix it?

Synopsis

ReEvolution highlights a different approach to the Evolution of Homo Sapiens.

Evolution, as a natural process, is not perfect and Natural Selection often results in anatomical and functional mistakes, which can be easily identified in our bodies today. What if we could correct these mistakes by re-engineering the human body?

ReEvolution examines the profound and undergoing human transformation through human-made technology (Artificial Selection), showcasing the tremendous and irreversible impact of modern Engineering on Biology and Medicine, from vision restoration in blind people, to the eradication of human diseases through genetic engineering and expansion of human life to incredible longevity.

ReEvolution , a popular-science TV series, showcases top-notch scientists, engineers, and labs around the world, working on scientific and technological answers.

From genomic manipulation and stem-cells-based tissue regeneration, to exoskeletons and nano-robots, the series focuses on how interdisciplinary research leads the way to create a very different future human body.

The series also discusses the moral and ethical repercussions of these advances and how they affect not only the individual but all of humankind.

ReEvolution is a 12 episodes series, where each episode is a stand-alone 50’ documentary. The episodes are:

  • “The Eye of the Beholder” about the vision of the blind

  • "The Skin I Live In" on how our skin defines who we are

  • "The Strongest Man  Alive" about muscle cells and the limitations of human strength

  • "The Weakest Link" about the ongoing battlefield that is our immune system

  • "Gut Feeling" on how our guts became independent

  • "It All Began Here" on how an embryo becomes a person

  • "Crack The Code" about DNA manipulation in the world of genomics

  • "Bad Sign" on how cancer is an evolutionary miracle

  • "Getting Busy" about sex as a very imperfect way of reproduction

  • "Getting on My Nerves" about the imperfections of our nervous system

  • "What Reality Really Is" on how our senses deceive our brains

  • "Cogito Ergo Sum" about the stuff consciousness is made of

Each episode is divided into 4 sections, and this structure is systematically maintained over the course of the whole series.

  • Section 1
The evolutionary mistake that is discussed in the episode is introduced by comparing the same biological structure, or process, in different living organisms and in fossils. This section applies animation, microscopy and interviews with evolutionary biologists.

  • Section 2
What is the engineers’ approach to the problem?
    What is their suggested solution?
Showcased are machines, or devices, that already exist or are under development. The emphasis is on the inspiration that engineers draw  from the biological world.

  • Section 3
Back to biology, showcasing the achievements of modern biological and medical research. Included are both interviews and narrated explanations that intercut with animations, illustrations and footage.

  • Section 4
The social, moral, ethical and even political consequences of these scientific achievements is being confronted.  Showcased are ethicists, philosophers of science, historians, sociologists, intellectuals and thinkers.

The goals of ReEvolution are:

  • To raise the public’s curiosity for Biology, Medicine, Engineering and Philosophy.

  • To provide tools for, and spark, an intelligent debate regarding non-scientific based beliefs.

  • To offer an interdisciplinary approach to rationality and science-based understanding of reality, while making it accessible to the broad audience.

ReEvolution is to be also visually fascinating. The show’s aesthetics include state-of-the-art animation, a true-to-life hologram depicting the full human body, a first-person-point-of-view approach, InfoGraphics, visual enhancements, and microscopic imagery. Complex  topics are presented in a clear, vivid, and engaging ways.

In addition, a free-to-play gaming app will be released in conjunction with the TV show, in which the player will control a small, simple organism whose goal is to defeat Evolution’s traps.

ReEvolution will be fully produced in English across countries and continents, featuring prominent scientists with very diverse backgrounds in medicine, genetic-engineering, neurobiology, futurology and more.

We intend to raise the funds for the project from various broadcasting and financing entities around the world. The filming format will allow to create local versions and adapt them to specific language, airing slots and other requirements.

ReEvolution is a groundbreaking series, challenging our thinking and morals. It is unique, ambitious and arouses broad public interest.
